Who We Are
Harrisburg District Library is located at 2 West Walnut Street in Harrisburg, Illinois, three blocks from the junction of Route 13/Poplar Street and Main Street. Harrisburg District Library provides free services to all residents living within the Harrisburg Public Library District boundaries with services available to all others for a fee.
The library holds over 46,000 materials including books, audiobooks, large print books, DVDs, fiction and non-fiction for all ages, with access to thousands more through ebooks, audiobooks, and interlibrary loan.
In total, over 43,000 items were checked out of the library during fiscal year 2020-2021! In addition to these items, thousands of people entered the library to utilize print and electronic reference resources, access the Internet through the library’s fiber optic connection, enjoy state-of-the-art wi-fi service, participate in computer and Internet training, view a library exhibit, or attend one of the library’s many events.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Harrisburg Public Library District is to provide tax supported services to its patrons. The library maintains a collection of professionally selected materials that will meet patrons’ educational, informational, cultural, technological, and recreational needs. The library is committed to a collection that represents all points of view. The library works to preserve historical resources especially as they pertain to the local area. Harrisburg District Library cooperates with other libraries as well as with other educational and governmental institutions.
